Freelance Flash Designer and Developer

Rothmans, Benson and Hedges (2002 – Present)
Toronto, Canada
I have been the preferred supplier of all Flash-based development and design for the RBH Marketing Department. Since 2003 I produced over 200 interactive e-fliers for the Goldclub Series program – RBH’s nightclub-based campaign to market the Benson&Hedges tobacco brand. Special attention and effort was placed on enhancing and reinforcing the Goldclub Series brand and engaging the target LA-24 market. Selected e-fliers were repurposed for street level multi plasma screen advertising. Federal legislation now prohibits this level of tobacco marketing and the Goldclub Series brand was retired in 2004. Current work includes interactive POS presentations developed for retail outlet representatives and video animation for nightclub POS kiosks and plasma screen visuals for private industry events.

MINUS Inc. (2003-Present)
Berlin, Germany
Acclaimed techno music innovator Richie Hawtin required a website to showcase the evolution of his alter ego Plastikman. Site visitors can listen to every single commercially released song, view all commentary and press, see all produced album artwork and event fliers from 1989 to present. Effort was placed on expressing the dark, unnerving and emotive persona of Plastikman while giving both new and long-time fans an information-rich and immersive experience. Special technical features include a dynamic news ticker, database-driven membership subscriptions, control systems to manage ambient audio, streaming MP3 song player and Flash-based video content. I wrote specifications, supervised and managed the back-end system development.

La Maison de la Casa House (1999 – Present)
London, Canada
I have provided digital content, file management and miscellaneous support services for La Casa de la Maison House for five years. Most recently I have completed the artist showcase website for noted International DJ John Acquaviva. I built an engaging and fresh-looking Flash front-end interface that is appropriate for Acquaviva’s target audience and musical style. The Flash front-end integrates with the existing database-driven content management system for the previous versions of his website.

Velocity Studio (2002-Present)
London, Canada
Velocity Studio contracted me to build the interactivity, motion graphics and develop sound design for Freddy Fusion. I also adapted and implemented an avatar chat system using Unity Multi-user Server. Other client work includes concept prototype development for AOL America.

N2it GmbH (2001-2002)
Amsterdam, Holland
Dutch-based N2it GmbH required content management and maintenance of their original flash-based website. I updated their product website from version 4 Flash to version 5 and produced an HTML counterpart to maximize the potential audience.

Technical Support Manager (August 2002 – May 2004)
Stanton Magnetics
Fort Lauderdale, USA
I was the sole provider of email and phone-based technical support for the Linux-PC based FinalScratch 1.0 DJ software. As this was a new product on the marketplace, solutions were often unknown, and the information supplied by customers was often incomplete, inaccurate or incoherent. I researched solutions to new problems, tracked user cases and statistics, and provided reports to Stanton Magnetics. The current software developers - Native Instruments GmbH - now handle support, and I presently continue to work as a development beta-tester for product enhancements and advancements. My three-month contract was extended for twenty-two months in total, and I assisted over 2500 customers.

Music Programming and Nightclub Promotion
Various Venues (1993-Present)
I have been working as an underground music DJ for 12 years, mixing and programming for non-mainstream nightclub audiences (age 21-35). I have promoted several successful medium size themed events, drawing attendances of 500-800, and worked with venue owners to arrange sponsorship for premium guest talent. I managed sponsor directed advertising, distribution of print material and allocation of funds within the marketing budget. I continuously research new and innovative music trends (primarily but not limited to European origin). I volunteer as the RPM Music director and host of a weekly Friday afternoon radio program (1:30-3:30 PM EST) on 94.9 CHRW – Canada’s widest-reaching campus & community radio station. Enjoy a streaming set at milkaudio.com.
